To ensure that the sign continues to look good for many years our signs are epoxy primed with modern acrylic urethane enamel (automotive) finish coats; even though these paints and primers are much more expensive the long-term results are well worth the price. The interior of the signs are painted white to increase light output through the sign faces and even light distribution. The BACH Group will use Wyandotte Grip-flex, Grip-gard and Meta-flex paints and two-part primer systems unless our customer has another preferred system. Wyandotte, by Akzo Coatings, offers compatible systems of very durable, high-solid yet flexible paints specifically formulated for signage applications on metals, plastics, and flexible materials. These paints do not chip off the surface because of heat-freeze cycles. The paints are U.V. stabilized to virtually eliminate fading. Plastic and flexible materials can be painted translucently for most colors. Over 4000 colors can be mixed. Colors formulated from different paint types for various applications (the metal frame and the translucent sign face as an example) can match. Virtually all PMS (Pantone) colors can be closely matched. Our paint application equipment and techniques, and disposal methods, are sensitive to the environment.
